Food & Beverage Service SCQF Level 5

Skill Level: Intermediate

This qualification is for candidates working within the hospitality industry who work as part of a team involved in serving food and drink in restaurants, hotels, cafés and takeaway environments. In this qualification candidates will develop skills in a range of areas such as:

  • serving food and drinks, including alcoholic drinks
  • cleaning equipment
  • customer services
  • maintaining stock and dealing with payments

The mandatory units cover maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, giving customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation and maintaining food safety when storing, holding and serving food. There are a wide range of optional units that can be selected to tailor the qualification to meet the needs of both the employer and employee.

  • This qualification may include a food hygiene certificate.
  • This qualification includes a health and safety at work certificate.
  • If the candidate deals with alcohol they will also receive a Scottish alcohol licensing certificate.

This qualification is part of the Modern Apprenticeship Programmetherefore may be funded by SDS (Skills Development Scotland).
