Hospitality Services SCQF Level 5

Skill Level: Intermediate

This qualification is for candidates working in hotels, guest houses, restaurants or cafes. This qualification has four different pathways: housekeeping, reception, food preparation and food and beverage services. In this qualification candidates will develop skills in a range of areas such as:

  • room servicing and deep cleaning
  • dealing with bookings
  • preparing or producing basic dishes
  • converting areas for dining and table service.

The skills they will develop will depend on the pathway they choose. The mandatory units cover maintaining health and safety in hospitality, working effectively as part of a hospitality team and the impact of personal behaviour in hospitality. There are a wide range of optional units that can be selected to tailor the qualification to meet the needs of both the employer and employee.

  • This qualification includes a health and safety at work certificate.
  • This qualification may include a food hygiene certificate.
  • If the candidate deals with alcohol they will also receive a Scottish alcohol licensing certificate.

This qualification is part of the Modern Apprenticeship Programmetherefore may be funded by SDS (Skills Development Scotland).
